The Eastern Delaware County Joint Recreation District is a partnership between the Berkshire Township, Village of Galena, and City of Sunbury, working together to enhance recreational opportunities for all residents. This page will be updated with meeting details, project updates, and public surveys as they become available. We look forward to building a stronger, more connected community together.

The purpose of the Eastern Delaware County Joint Recreation District is to provide facilities and programming that promotes the wellbeing of residents and improves the quality of life for those living within the district or serviced by its facilities.

The initial responsibilities of the JRD Board of Trustees will include all of the following:

  • Engage the community and assess the recreational needs of district residents.
  • Determine if a community center is the proper facility for meeting such needs; evaluate existing community resources that may be leveraged to support the JRD.
  • Evaluate options for financing the construction and maintenance of a community center.
  • Develop a sustainable plan for programming and operating a community center.
